Boston Celtics Make a Splash at the Trade Deadline
Celtics Acquire Xavier Tillman, Trade Daniel Theis, and More
The Boston Celtics made a series of moves at the NBA trade deadline, including acquiring Xavier Tillman from the Memphis Grizzlies and trading away Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, and Juwan Morgan.
Tillman is a 6'8" forward who was the 35th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He has played sparingly for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 2.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. However, he is a solid defender who could provide some depth for the Celtics.
The Celtics also traded away guard Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a separate deal. Walker has been a key part of the Celtics' rotation for the past two seasons, but he has struggled with injuries this season and is no longer a part of the team's long-term plans.
The Celtics are now 33-25 on the season and are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. They will be hoping that their new acquisitions can help them make a push for a playoff spot.
