Roland Garros 2023: Andrey Rublev Beats Laslo Djere in Four Sets
Rublev Advances to Second Round
World No. 7 Andrey Rublev defeated Laslo Djere in four sets on Sunday to reach the second round at Roland Garros. The Russian won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and 38 minutes. Rublev hit 37 winners to Djere's 20 and won 80% of his first-serve points. He also saved 6 of 7 break points he faced.
Rublev is now 3-0 lifetime against Djere. He will face either Oscar Otte or Maxime Cressy in the second round.
Djere Pushed Rublev
Djere, ranked No. 56 in the world, pushed Rublev in the second and third sets. He broke Rublev's serve twice in the second set and took a 3-1 lead in the third set. But Rublev broke back twice in the third set and won the last three games of the set.
In the fourth set, Rublev broke Djere's serve in the fifth game and held on to win the match.
