Jayson Tatum led the Boston Celtics to a 138-110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, extending their winning streak to 10 games. Tatum finished with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Jaylen Brown added 25 points and Marcus Smart chipped in with 20.
Luka Doncic had a triple-double for the Mavericks with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack. The Mavericks also got 20 points from Spencer Dinwiddie and 18 from Christian Wood, but no other player reached double figures.
The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 39-20 to take a 65-44 lead into halftime. Tatum and Brown combined for 27 points in the quarter, while Doncic was held to just 6 points on 2-of-11 shooting.
The Mavericks cut the lead to 10 points in the third quarter, but the Celtics responded with a 10-0 run to put the game away. Tatum hit a pair of three-pointers during the run, and Brown added a dunk and a layup.
The Celtics' winning streak is their longest since they won 11 straight games in January 2018. They are now 35-15 on the season and hold a 2.5-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks for first place in the Eastern Conference.
The Mavericks have lost two straight games and are now 29-21 on the season. They are still in fifth place in the Western Conference, but they are just 2.5 games ahead of the Sacramento Kings.
