Hugh Freeze Liberty Contract

Liberty Flames reward Hugh Freeze with Fully Guaranteed Deal

Eight-Year Contract Secures Coach's Future

New Deal Boasts Over $4 Million Annual Salary

Liberty University has doubled down on its commitment to head football coach Hugh Freeze, announcing a fully guaranteed eight-year contract extension that will keep him with the Flames through the 2030 season. According to ESPN sources, the contract averages just under $5 million per year.

"We are grateful for Coach Freeze's outstanding leadership of Liberty Football and the positive influence he has on our student-athletes," said Liberty's Director of Athletics, Ian McCaw.

Freeze has led Liberty to a remarkable 2020 season, boasting an undefeated 7-0 record. His success has culminated in the program's best start in its 48-year history.

The new contract reflects Liberty's confidence in Freeze's leadership and his ability to build a championship-caliber program. With this extension, Freeze becomes one of the highest-paid non-Power Five coaches in the country.

No stranger to success, Freeze previously coached at Arkansas State and Ole Miss, compiling a combined record of 82-53. His impressive resume includes four bowl game victories and three conference championships.

Liberty's extension underscores the university's commitment to athletic excellence and its belief in Freeze as the driving force behind the program's future success.
