Liberty, Hugh Freeze Agree to Eight-Year Contract Extension

Liberty University and head football coach Hugh Freeze have agreed to a new eight-year contract that will keep Freeze with the Flames through the 2030 season, the school announced Friday.
The terms of the contract were not immediately released, but reports indicate Freeze will earn an average of more than $4 million per year.
The eight-year extension is the longest in Liberty football history. It also makes Freeze one of the highest-paid coaches in the Group of Five conferences.
Freeze is entering his fourth season at Liberty. He has led the Flames to a 26-14 record and three bowl appearances during his tenure.
Prior to Liberty, Freeze spent five seasons as the head coach at Ole Miss. He was fired by the Rebels in 2017 amid an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations.
Freeze is widely considered one of the top up-and-coming coaches in college football. The new contract extension shows that Liberty has faith in his ability to continue building the Flames program into a national contender.
